Hathawariya, also known as Shatawari, is a unique plant, belonging to the asparagus family. Ideally, it should be grown in humid environments as this plant is native to places like South Asia and Northern Australia, but a greenhouse can be used to achieve the same tropical effect which will allow the plant to germinate. The plant will die extremely quickly when exposed to cold temperatures or even soil that is below 20°C. It should also be noted that the plant thrives in filtered sunlight. During the first month of the plants life, it should be watered biweekly, and after this period it should be watered regularly once per week. If these conditions are met, then the plant is sure to reach its maximum height of between 1 and 2 metres.
