Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry tree, is a thin tree with short wispy leaves. This tree produces Indian gooseberries, which are often regarded highly in herbal medicine due to their extreme bitterness and cleansing properties. They are different from the American variety of gooseberries due to their light green skin as well as the previously mentioned extreme bitterness. To ensure that the plant thrives, it should be kept in bright morning sun, but kept sheltered from the afternoon sun because it can burn the leaves. The plant should also be placed in a pot filled with moist, well-draining soil to allow the plant to produce its brilliant berries.
