Soursop is a medium sized, spindly tree which bears round, spiky fruits with a milky white flesh. To ensure that the tree flourishes, a series of conditions must first be met. The tropical plant requires at least 1500mm of water per year and should be watered at least twice a week in small amounts. The plant grows better in moist, well-draining soil but can also be grown in sandy, acidic soil, to less success. If planted in a spot that receives at least 4 hours of direct sunlight per day, the tree will grow to a height of approximately 8 metres and will produce fruit within 3 - 4 years of being planted as a seed.
