The star gooseberry is a small, tropical tree featuring vibrant red flowers. It is known for the beautiful, sour tasting fruits that it produces, which are used commonly in ayurvedic medicine. To ensure that the tree reaches its maximum size and fruiting rate, there are some conditions that must be met. Firstly, the plant should receive at least 7 hours of full sunlight per day, and thrives in a tropical climate, with high humidity and rainfall levels. It grows in most soil types, but to allow the plant to reach its full potential, it should be planted with a small amount of slow-release compost. If these conditions are met, the star gooseberry plant will grow to a height of 7-9m and will produce fruit within 1-2 years of planting.
