Mangosteen is a medium sized tree with a thick trunk that can grow to a maximum height of 6-12m, which features smooth green leaves and produces the delicious Mangosteen fruit. A tropical plant, the mangosteen tree thrives in extremely hot and humid conditions and prefers the type of soil that is found in rainforests, which is packed full of nutrients. Ideally, the plant should be kept in direct sunlight for 6 hours a day, and the soil that it is planted in should be well draining soil to prevent root rot. If these conditions are met, then the Mangosteen tree is sure to produce its delicious fruits within 8-15 years if the tree is derived from a seedling.
